(1 of 2) * WHAT...Flooding caused by an ice jam and snowmelt continues. * WHERE...Kuskokwim River near Kwethluk. * WHEN...Until 1145 AM AKDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 136 PM AKDT, the River Watch Team reported an ice jam on Kuskokwim River south of Johnson River. Impounding water due to the ice jam has lead to high waters and flooding upstream. Snowmelt and high water have been observed upstream of Kwethluk, but waters are slowly subsiding. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood - If you live near or along Kuskokwim River near Kwethluk stay alert and be prepared to take action. (2 of 2) River flooding continues on the Kuskokwim River from Kwethluk downstream to near Napakiak. * WHAT...Flooding caused by an ice jam continues. * WHERE...The following area, Kuskokwim River, Browns Slough at Bethel and surrounding areas. * WHEN...Until noon AKDT Monday. * IMPACTS...Widespread lowland flooding, including businesses, homes, low structures and over roadways have been reported in Bethel. Additional rises are not expected. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8 PM AKDT Sat May 11, the River Watch Team reported the breakup front on the Kuskokwim River was five miles downstream of the Johnson River. Water impounded by the ice jam will continue to impact lower areas in Bethel along the Kuskokwim and Browns Slough. The high water related to this ice jam extends several miles upstream. Water levels are dropping and are expected to continue to recede. - For Kuskokwim River at Bethel: At 8:00am the stage was 9.39 feet. Flood Stage is 8.5 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
